After spending time in a psychiatric facility and being diagnosed with schizophrenia, life seems to have returned to normal in the isolated, rural Victorian town of Antwerp for Joan Vollmer and her husband Ralph. However, when Joan begins acting strangely, the reason is clear to Ralph, Joan is possessed by demons. Ralph engages his peculiar group of fundamentalist Christian neighbours who take matters into their own hands.

What follows is a harrowing and frightening tale of torture and violent exorcism.

Based on a true story, “The Devil At Antwerp” explores the inherent evil within humans and the corruption of religion and an indictment of a court system whereby a miscarriage of justice occurred in the court case, resulting in an unjust outcome.
